Hidden gems of Calderdale
While 2020 hasn’t been everything we’d hoped for and has stopped us from travelling as much as usual, it’s given us time to look around at the beautiful area we live in, and to appreciate the hidden gems on our doorstep!
This half term we’re challenging you to get out and about (rain or shine) to uncover some hidden gems for yourself. We’d love for you to share them on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram with us using the hashtag #CalderdaleHiddenGems – we’ll retweet/reshare our favourites!
Calderdale’s parks have just been recognised as some of the best in the world, so there’s no better time to explore everything Calderdale has to offer!
To get you started, we’ve found a few of our own. If you want to visit them, we’ve included a link to the directions within each title:
This National Trust gem has been preserved for a reason! With over 15 miles of wooden walks, and a beautifully preserved mill, this isn’t one to miss.
Look at that view! If it’s this beautiful at sunset, imagine the view during the day!
Not so much hidden, but still a beautiful part of Halifax, especially right now when it’s more important than ever to support small businesses. Plus, it’s dog friendly, as the lovely Buddy demonstrates!
This beautiful woodland is ideal for a lovely, peaceful walk. Whether you’re with family or part of an experienced group of ramblers, you can take in this stunning scenery as you wander beneath tall, twisted oaks dating back over 100 years.
This Grade II listed house was the home of Anne Lister, and boasts gorgeous, historic grounds. Recently made famous by Gentleman Jack, it’s still a favourite of ours!
How many of these local gems did you know? We’d love to see some of your favourites, don’t forget to use the hashtag #CalderdaleHiddenGems so we can share!
