Staff, students and their loved ones recently gathered at the Halifax Minster to celebrate the Class of 2024 at our University Centre Graduation.
Students and apprentices embraced the graduation spirit at the annual ceremony as they celebrated gaining Higher Education qualifications from the School of Creative Arts, School of Business, Leadership & Management, School of Health & Science, School of Education & Lifelong Learning, as well as higher and degree apprenticeships.
David Malone, Principal and Chief Executive at Calderdale College, said: “This celebration was a testament to the hard work and dedication of our higher-level students, from disciplines ranging from art and design to leadership and management.”
“We are incredibly proud to be a cornerstone of Higher Education in Halifax and Calderdale, providing opportunities for local students to achieve their academic and professional goals without having to leave the region. By enabling our students to stay local whilst progressing to higher levels of education, we are not only supporting their individual success but also contributing to the growth and development of our community.”
Four students also took home the following awards in recognition of their outstanding achievements:
Inspirational Higher Apprentice – Emma Sutcliffe
Inspirational Student – Lawrence Maragh
Outstanding Higher Apprentice – Robyn Speight
Outstanding Student – Serena Rogers
Carol Ann Hudson, graduate of our Children, Young People and Families Manager Level 5 Higher Education apprenticeship, said: “My apprenticeship has been both valuable and rewarding as I have been out in the community gaining practical experience, as well as building on my interpersonal and written skills in the classroom.
“I had a lot of one-on-one support with my tutor, which was amazing for my personal development and success on the course. Now I have graduated, I am applying for registered manager roles in young people’s services.”
Anika Rehman, graduate of our Community, Public Health and Social Care BA (Hons) Top-Up, added: “This course has opened many doors into the social care sector. I learned about correct public health practices and how to apply them to everyday situations. It has been great to graduate alongside my peers and celebrate our achievements!”
