Talented Calderdale College students begin preparation for Anne Lister’s Birthday Week Festival

As part of an exciting new project that aims to celebrate the wonderful life of Anne Lister, our Performing Arts, Music and Computing students visited the West Yorkshire Archive Service to study the works of the famous diarist.

Working in collaboration with Northern Rail and Calderdale Council, the project will support the launch of Anne Lister’s birthday celebrations, kicking-off from Wednesday 29 March until Tuesday 4 April.

Our Performing Arts and Music students are using the diaries as inspiration for songs and performances for a series of presentations taking place throughout the event.

Using the skills and knowledge from their college course, our Computing students will help with the design and creation of a mobile web app which will guide visitors to access events throughout the festival and beyond, in partnership with Visit Calderdale.

Filled with never-seen-before history, the web app will bring a new way for people around the world to celebrate the historical Calderdale icon.
