Many of us will recognise fairy tales such as Rapunzel, Snow White and the Elves and the Shoemaker whether we read them as children or have read them to our own children. The Performing Arts students reprised many of the stories in an enchanting performance directed by Andrea Quantrill

Fun Computer Games Day

15th December 2008

It’s not often that your tutor encourages you to play computer games all day but that is not the case for the BTEC IT learners. A special day of gaming was held Thursday 11th December for a small fee of £1 where students competed in four rounds to see who was the ultimate champion. The primary game centred around Counter Strike where students split into two teams with a dedicated classroom each, other games were also held in a stand alone classroom. The event was organised by Tim Paisley who is currently studying BTEC Introductory Diploma in IT at work. He organised the day to help raise money for Cystic Fibrosis, a condition which his cousin suffers and is understandably close to his heart.

COLLEGE WINS QUALITY EXCELLENCE AWARD

8th December 2008

Calderdale College has won a prestigious Matrix Excellence Award for the quality of advice, guidance and information right across the organisation. A team from the college received the award at a glittering ceremony at the Institute of Directors in London from BBC News presenter, Kate Silverton.
