Calderdale College will be participating in the Premier Farnell Technology Challenge, a Yorkshire-wide initiative supporting digital and computer programming skills for future graduates.

Working in teams of five, our students will be competing with around fifteen other schools from the region to design a piece of ‘assistive technology’ aimed at helping to improve quality of life for people with physical and sensory impairments.

Participants will attend workshops hosted by Premier Farnell – a Leeds-based electronics distributor with offices all over the world – and Leeds Beckett University.  By the end of the challenge they will have designed a working prototype of their design idea, which they will present to a panel of judges. Successful teams will then progress to the regional finals, where prizes will be awarded in the categories of People’s Choice and Judges Choice.
