CALDERDALE COLLEGE NAMED NUMBER ONE COLLEGE IN WEST YORKSHIRE FOR 16-18 ACHIEVEMENT10th April 2018
Calderdale College has been named West Yorkshire’s top college for 16-18 achievement, with 88% of students attaining their qualification.
According to recent government statistics, the college is also in the top 5% of results for ESOL (English as a Second Language) and 10% for 16-18 Learning Difficulty/Disability achievement.
In addition to this, the college has the top achievement rate in West Yorkshire for Access to Higher Education achievement. Access to Higher Education courses at the college provide students with the experience and qualifications required to progress to University. In its most recent Ofsted report, teachers were praised for “supporting learners on the access to higher education programme very well, in writing personal statements and university applications.”
When speaking about the college’s fantastic results, John Rees, Principal and Chief Executive at Calderdale College commented:
“I am extremely proud of our students and staff for achieving these results. It shows that with hard work and high quality teaching, outstanding results can be achieved in all areas of the curriculum. This success was recognised by Ofsted when the inspected the college recently and I’m pleased to stay that our current students continue to make great progress.”

In 2016, the college went through a multi-million pound renovation, which has provided its students with the new state-of-the-art learning facilities allowing the college to deliver new courses and meet local skills and employment needs.
It has now been confirmed that Calderdale College will shortly commence another exciting renovation of one of its buildings, transforming it into an innovative Digital and Creative Industries Centre (DigiHub) for September 2018. This will allow the college to deliver new innovative courses, building on its commitment to embedding the digital agenda at the heart of study programmes, and it will equip students with the skills they need for this fast-changing industry.
