Calderdale College is seeking to appoint a MGL to work in and Course Lead the department of performing arts and contribute to the delivery and assessment of the dance provision. The faculty have a forward thinking, innovative approach, providing a vibrant and engaging curriculum including e-learning and the use of Information Learning Technologies, that seeks opportunities for students beyond their study programme.
The appropriate applicant will have a range of dance performance-related skills, knowledge and experience, a proven understanding of outstanding teaching, learning and assessment methods in dance and a passion for inspiring students to reach high standards.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience in managing learning programmes and in teaching and assessing BTEC dance at levels 2 and 3 in the following performance disciplines; contemporary dance techniques, choreographing dance, jazz dance, dance improvisation, physical theatre, performing arts business, arts marketing and site specific performance. The specific units taught may be open to some negotiation. Competency in using WordPress and working with an online blog is essential.
This role requires a dynamic and creative individual with the ability to influence and motivate students to realise their potential and achieve success in all aspects of their studies. Clear understanding of strategies for raising performance and using monitoring and evaluation processes to measure student progress is essential.
To be suitable for this role you must have a degree or equivalent qualification in professional dance training and a PGCE teaching qualification. Candidates who are new to the profession and can demonstrate, through interview, a high level of capability are encouraged to apply.
