Course Leader profile
I have been teaching IT courses at the College for more than fifteen years and have considerable experience of delivering both full time courses - at levels 2, 3 and 4 - and bespoke training for local businesses and organisations. The latter includes organising and delivering a major three year project to upskill all of the Calderdale Council Libraries Services staff in IT to support the introduction of computers to public libraries as part of a National Lottery funded scheme. Almost 120 full and part-time staff, many complete beginners to computers, obtained a level 2 ECDL qualification through this project. On a smaller scale I have designed and delivered specialised half day sessions for local SMEs funded by a range of Government initiatives. In 2003 I was one of the first people in the country to achieve the industry standard Dreamweaver Developer qualification. This is a very fast moving field and I have continued to upskill myself through a mixture of practical experience and formal training courses. I recently obtained a BTEC level 4 qualification in e-Learning which has helped me develop innovative resources to support learning using the College virtual learning environment. This VLE is hugely supportive for those Learners who cannot manage full attendance on a course due to work, family or other commitments. I see e-Learning as an exciting and valuable development that will enable everyone to truly participate in life-long learning.
An advanced course suitable for those with at least 5 GCSEs at grade A*-C or grade 9 - 4 including Maths & English
