Contract Painter & Decorator
£15,000 - £30,000

Contract Painters & Decorators apply paint, varnish, wallpaper and other protective and decorative materials to interior and exterior walls and surfaces under the instruction of a manager or supervisor.

Self-Employed Painter & Decorator
£25,000+

Being a Self-Employed Decorator brings more opportunity to liaise with clients and interior designers on colour choice, finishing texture or type and wallpaper patterns to use. You may also specialise in restoration work once qualified.

Philip Harris, Course Leader, Painting & Decorating

I have been involved in the construction industry all of my working life. Prior to joining Calderdale College, I ran my own Decorating business for twelve years, and I am very passionate about this trade. Holding a L3 NVQ in Painting and Decorating, I teach across all levels, including functional Skills in maths, and apprenticeships. My duel role as a Training officer enables me to place many of our learners into employment, with an aim to give all this opportunity.
