College Sport Maker
The primary aim of the College Sport Maker is to engage more learners within the college, in regular sporting activity at least once a week for 30 minutes. Activities will take place within the Inspire centre, making use of the double sports hall, 3G pitches, gymnasium and dance studio.
Calderdale College understands the role that sport and physical activity plays in the development of young people, through encouraging a healthy lifestyle and boosting transferable skills such as team work, time management and communication. It is for this reason that Calderdale College is offering students an extensive and inclusive sporting offer, bringing together a wide range of opportunities to cater for all students.
Through research and consultation with our students along with extensive partnership work both internally and externally, Calderdale College has tailored its sporting offer to make sport accessible to as many students as possible. We have created a pathway from grassroots to elite level sport and made sure that there is an easy transition from college sport, to sport in the local community through partnerships with local clubs and organisations.
The Sport Maker programme along with the College Activation fund provides students with sporting activities and events at lunch times and after college. Female only sessions are also available, along with opportunities in the local community such as the £1 sport card which offers access to a range services for just £1.
